For e-learners in the education sector, Moodle 2 is the highly anticipated new version of the world’s most popular virtual learning environment (VLE). Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) is a standard way of integrating rich learning applications ,(often remotely hosted and provided through third-party services) with educational platforms. Moodle uses the External Tool activity to act as an 'LTI consumer' as standard and will act as an 'LTI provider' using a plugin. The Moodle project’s open-source approach means that Moodle is continually being reviewed and improved on to suit the current and evolving needs of its users. The upgrade process can be complex, but moving to Moodle 2 straight away is not always the best option. Some plugins are not yet compatible, so those who are tied to their add-ons may want to investigate whether a Moodle 2 upgrade is currently the best option. In versions 1.x, you could execute admin/cron.php either from command line or via the web. Since Moodle 2.0, the admin/cli/cron.php script can only be run via the command line.
