The Klipsch Reference Theater Pack is the company’s sixth-generation sat/sub system, succeeding the Quintet, which we tested back in 2013. The down-firing wireless subwoofer is designed to deliver room-filling low frequencies without requiring too much floorspace.

With matched horns and drivers in every corner of the room, as well as in the center, it was easy to follow panning trajectories. The R-8SW doesn't add unnecessary bass bloat to the track's pounding floor toms and kick drum, providing a rhythmic backbone for higher frequencies to work with. As the instrumentation undulates and Slash's fingers roam the fretboard, the soundstage begins to sound cluttered – yet when Kravitz's spoken word outro kicks in, or a saxophone unexpectedly pops in with a jazzy motif, these moments stand out with clarity and surprising projection. The subwoofer needed less than half of its volume control’s range (with the usual default level in my receiver’s surround processor) to produce an adequate level of low bass effects. After the installation, I was able to adjust the the levels and tones of each speaker through the amp with settings displayed on TV.

Of course, the big difference is that the Klipsch speakers virtually disappear into a room when you put those grilles on, and the bigger Elacs don't. The system's performance is characterised by a good grasp of high-frequency and mid-range detail, and an energetic approach to the low-end. Given that the speakers received excellent ratings from virtually all reviewers back in the day, I learned that the key to success is the amp/receiver.To complement the easy placement of the wireless subwoofer, each satellite speaker has a keyhole mount and a ¼” x 20 threaded insert (the center channel has dual keyhole / inserts) for maximum mounting flexibility. The speakers are very light which makes them easy to attach to the wall with a variety of speaker mounts. Considering the sats' ultra compact size, dynamic range was also impressive, even when we pushed the volume fairly loud with the battle scenes in " The Revenant.

I do recommend them and I would say you won't be disappointed at these speakers they will only elevate your whole home system and make it more theater like sound. The sub’s internal amp is rated at 50 watts RMS and 150 watts peak, which is considerably less than the 200 and 450 watts spec of the 10inch sub we previously reviewed.Klipsch® Certified Factory Refurbished audio products have been tested, inspected, and approved for sale by a Klipsch quality assurance professional. In equal power mode, you'll hear these differences in loudness as they naturally occur between speakers. Tonal balance, while slightly forward, was certainly not too aggressive or sizzly; things that were supposed to sound warm sounded warm.

Even though that means a room full of speakers, they don't have to be huge to create impressive sound.
