Vermiculite is irritant-free, ultra-lightweight, non-toxic, odour free and fireproof up to 1300 degrees centigrade The water holding capacity is comparable to moderately decomposed peat, but the majority of water is retained more strongly then in peat so it extends watering intervals.It also provides a nucleus for re-wetting which makes watering management much simpler. Please note that this material is sold in smaller bags than our standard loose fill chips. This makes it considerably easier to handle and store. Sinclair Horticultural Grade Vermiculite is porous so it helps retain water & nutrients in the soil for release to plants.
